“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day….unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear!”
On March 12, 2024, the Lord called his servant Walter L. Nowell home to be with him. Most of his family and friends referenced him as “W.L.”.
Walter was born July 4, 1933, to the late Walter and Donnie. He was a native of Chowan, North Carolina.
Walter was preceded in Death by his wife Rosenell L. Nowell, his nephew Ricky Jordan and his grandson Rashaan L. Nowell whom he raised and claimed as his children. He was a hard worker, and he farmed his whole life to make a living for his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family and going to local stores (Holiday Foods which we have always known as Mini Mart and County Market) to get his daily coffee and meet up with his buddies.
W.L. leaves to cherish his children: Dianne (Bobby) Boone, Shelton (Rachel) Nowell, Debra (Robert) Parker, Walter (Darlene) Nowell Jr., Jessie (Delbert) Harvey, Donald (Penny) Nowell. He also had a niece that he considered to be his daughter Odessa (James) Elliott. His grandchildren: Shelton (Carnesha) Parker, Jermaine Nowell, Latoya (Vashaun) Smith, Veronica Harvey, Torrey (Stephanie) Nowell, Xavier Harvey, Dominique (Jaleesa) Nowell and Dauntae Nowell. He has ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. W.L. had one sister and five brothers Donnie Jordan, George Nowell, James Nowell, Willie D. Jordan, Walsworth Nowell and Lonnie Nowell, which have all preceded him in death. He also has one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved deeply. W.L. had two friends that were very special to him H.B. Lilley (deceased) and Tom Riddick of Gatesville, NC.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Friday March 15, 2024, at the funeral home from 4pm to 6pm.
