Ree Dell Nowell better known as "Boot” the son of the late William Edward Taylor and the late Donnie Pencie Nowell Jordan was born September 3, 1946 in Chowan County, NC. He was the third oldest child of 16 children. Our heavenly father decided that Ree had fought long and hard enough, and decided to dispatch his angels to bring his son home. Ree entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Facility, Elizabeth City, NC.
Ree joined Greater Welch’s Chapel Church at an early age, where he was a devoted Christian and a faithful member until his death. Ree attended school in Gates County, NC. He was multi-talented in many practices. They include being a painter, landscaper, roofer, and his last positions were held in the Industrial Packaging Department at Jimbo Jumbo’s where he retired after more than 35 years of employment.
Ree was known for his affectionate smile and his polite mannerism. He always asked, how are you doing young lady or young man? Ree enjoyed the simple things in life that we sometimes often take for granted, such as keeping his yard beautiful. He loved flowers and keeping his home well maintained. He would often reflect back on memories of his grandmother, mother, other family and friends. He loved his family and he loved traveling to Putnam, CT., a place he once lived and called his second home. He moved to Putnam,CT., when he was a young adult to live and work with his brother, Red. While living in Edenton, he always reflected on memories of working in Putnam at the car wash and sharing his smile with customers who would always give him a nice tip. He never forgot the kindness he was shown by his employers and his customers in his career journey while living in Connecticut and when he returned to North Carolina. He believed in giving people a chance.
Ree was preceded in death by his, father William Edward Taylor and his mother Donnie (Sister) Pencie Nowell Jordan, five brothers: Floyd Rogers Nowell, John Wayne Jordan, Horace (Doodlebug) Jordan, James (Red) Nowell and Ricky Jordan; two sisters: Alice Raye Nowell Gatling and Faye (Layebell) Riddick.
